The first six weeks (puerperium) are a time of healing, hormonal change, and learning to care for a newborn. Whether you had a normal or caesarean delivery, follow-up checks review blood pressure, wound or perineal healing, bleeding pattern, and emotional wellbeing. Breastfeeding is supported with practical positioning advice and, when required, a plan for low milk or sore nipples.
Red flags — seek care the same day
- Heavy or foul-smelling bleeding, or large clots.
- Fever, burning urine, or severe lower abdominal pain.
- Chest pain, breathlessness, or severe headache with vision change.
Because we are a multi-specialty NABH hospital, the same campus supports newborn jaundice or feeding issues without sending parents elsewhere. Contact the maternity OPD at Janta for your six-week check or earlier if concerned — 94668-03877.
